Rook was the first storage project accepted into the Cloud Native Computing Foundation (CNCF), and it helps storage administrators to automate everyday tasks like provisioning, configuration, disaster recovery, deployment, and upgrading storage providers. Rook turns a distributed file system into storage services that scale and heal automatically by leveraging the Kubernetes features with the operator pattern. When administrators use Rook with a storage provider like Ceph, they only have to worry about declaring the desired state of the cluster and the operator will be responsible for setting up and configuring the storage layer in the cluster.

SAN FRANCISCO, August 14, 2019 – The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization enabling mass innovation through open source, announced today that enrollment is now open for the new DevOps and SRE Fundamentals – Implementing Continuous Delivery eLearning course. The course will help an organization be more agile, deliver features rapidly, while at the same time being able to achieve non-functional requirements such as availability, reliability, scalability, security, etc.
According to Chris Aniszczyk, CTO of the Cloud Native Computing Foundation, “The rise of cloud native computing and site reliability engineering are changing the way applications are built, tested, and deployed. The past few years have seen a shift towards having Site Reliability Engineers (SREs) on staff instead of just plain old sysadmins; building familiarity with SRE principles and continuous delivery open source projects are an excellent career investment.”
CircleCI is a continuous integration (CI) platform to help DevOps teams release code at a rapid rate by automating the build, test, and delivery process. Some of the known users of CircleCI include Samsung, Ford Motor Company, Spotify, Lyft, Coinbase, PagerDuty, Stitch Fix, and BuzzFeed.
However, CircleCI supported only macOS and Linux so far, keeping it out of the reach of Windows developers. But things are changing. Microsoft is increasingly embracing open source technologies. It’s embracing Linux. Linux dominates Azure cloud. Linux is now built into Windows 10 with WLS2.

With GitHub Actions developers can now build, test and deploy their code on any platform and run their workflows in containers or virtual machines.
